Installing previous versions of the Logitech Gaming Software. ![]() Re-installing Logitech Gaming Software. If you’re interested, more information on using DISM to repair Windows 10 and recovery images can be found here. Hopefully Microsoft can issue a fix for the recovery image. It appears the recovery image when upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 10 could be corrupt. If you run into this issue, I highly recommend avoiding the reset option in Windows 10 and instead perform a fresh install. The USBAUDIO.SYS file was present (as it should have been) and I did not need to install LGS. After re-installing Windows 10 my headset worked immediately without needing any drivers. I did not use Windows 10’s built in reset option and instead opted to clean the drive and re-install Windows 10 which also re-created the recovery partition. I thought about using DISM to repair the files, but I ended up re-installing Windows 10 from scratch. I realized that the reset option in Windows 10 was likely using a bad image. It appears it was related to the Logitech Gaming Software but uninstalling it would cause my headset to stop working. Since the mic is attached to the cable, you won't need to worry about it being too close to your mouth like with most gaming headphones.UPDATE: I began to have problems with my headset a few weeks later. It also has above average noise-canceling capability. It will only capture sound from the direction of its mic. The microphone is excellent for online gaming with its unidirectional feature. But with games like RE2 Remake that uses sound sparingly in specific points of the game, it can distract and lower the level of immersion. The surround sound feature, during quiet moments in the game, also generated a slight echo. While the earcups were exceptionally comfortable, its large size allowed for sound leakage to occur. I believe most of the issues I encountered were caused by the size and design of the cans. Surround sound was also on point as I was able to distinguish where each gunshot and explosion's direction was. The headphone effortlessly produced all the explosion and bullets whizzing past in fantastic detail. That being said, the Logitech G430 did live up to my expectations in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Simply put, the sound quality almost felt flat and lacked that certain panache to bring the world these games are set in, alive. For games that focus on buildingĪtmosphere through visual and audio cues, the G430 left much to be desired.įor example, with RE2 Remake and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the G430 managed to produce the necessary audio quality but can't seem to break through that glass ceiling. However, I must point out that it wasn't the mind-blowing experience you would hope. Overall, the Logitech G430 managed to provide a decent experience in all three games. And Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, for its hectic and larger than life mission scenarios. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with its large and living environment. With the G430, I picked Resident Evil 2 Remake, for its tense, nail-biting atmosphere. When reviewing gaming headsets, I will try to use it with a wide variety of games of different genres and styles. Now, let's bite into the meat of this review – performance.
